Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California. When he was only one week old, he was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs, who lived in Mountain View, California. In 1971, after attending several lectures at Hewlett-Packard Company in Palo Alto, California, Jobs was hired as a summer employee. There he worked with Steve Wozniak, with whom he later co-founded Apple in 1976.
In 1985, Jobs left Apple after a dispute with the board of directors, but returned when his computer platform development company, NeXt, was bought out by Apple in 1997. Since then, Jobs has been Chief Executive Officer of Apple. Under his leadership, Apple has released several highly successful products, such as the iPod and the iBook.
Until Pixar was acquired by Disney, he was also the CEO of that company, and in addition to serving on Disney’s Board of Directors, he is currently the company’s largest shareholder. He Jobs lives in California with his wife, Lauren Powell, and their three children.
