Privet! My name is Yuriy and I'd like to tell you a little bit about my country.  Russia is officially known as The Russian Federation.  It is located in Eastern Europe and Northern Asia.  Covering eleven time zones, Russia is the largest country in the world.  It is almost twice the size of the U.S.A.

  • Russia has more than 18 million orphans and children in social risk
  • 90-95% of Russian orphans are "social orphans" which means they actually have living parents
  • Approximately 90% of orphans will end up in crime, drugs, and/or prison after "graduating" from their orphanage
  • Approximately 100,000 children come to social guardianship every year
