It’s now summer time for Sichuan and some 5 million families are living in tents -  without electricity and running water. Most of the victims ran outside when the quake hit the region on May 12, without any belongings except the clothing they were wearing. As food and water are being supplied by many relief groups and the government, we want to help the children we are in contact with by providing them with summer supplies. After our successful School Bag Project delivered 1,000 school bags (mostly collected within China) to victim children in Sichuan, Children’s Hope is now raising funds for a Summer Relief Bag Program to help the children in earthquake-affected areas in China. Give Me New Life Project seeks to save the lives of Sichuan, Gansu, and Shanxi children in the 5/12 China earthquake disaster area who are in need of emergency care, hospitalization, and/or surgery due to acute, chronic, or critical health conditions. In its first three months, this project will give new hope for life to 50 or more children in the disaster area, who have urgent, life-threatening medical conditions but do not have access to the critical health services they need to survive. This project will coordinate and support the costs of hospitalization, medicine, surgeries, and other treatments as required to adequately address the specific health needs of each child, as well as transportation and other costs. Thousands of orphans around the world are in desperate need of health care right now.  Millions of others are subjected to child labor, sex trafficking, and various other forms of abuse and exploitation.  Impoverished parents must choose between keeping their family together or giving their children up to an orphanage that can, at least, offer them food and shelter.  The Children’s Hope Greatest Need Fund provides immediate assistance to orphaned children and to families where children are at risk of losing their parents through health, nutrition, material aid, educational, and social programs.
