Jett Williams was born Catherine Yvonne Stone on January 6, 1953 in Montgomery, Alabama. Five days before her birth, her father, country music star Hank Williams, Sr., died. Her mother was Bobbie Jett, with whom Williams, Sr. had a relationship between his two marriages. Hank Williams’ mother adopted Jett Williams, but she died shortly after. As a result, Williams entered the foster care system, and was later was adopted by a young couple and named Cathy Louise Dupree.
When she was twenty one years old, Williams was told the identity of her father, and thus began a long legal battle to be officially recognized as his heir. She took her biological father’s last name and is now a country music singer herself. She and her husband currently reside in Macon, Tennessee.
