Harry Potter, series of fantasy novels by J. K. Rowling
Harry Potter is a young boy whose parents were killed by the evil Lord Voldemort when Harry was only one year old. He goes to live with his aunt and uncle who neglect their nephew. They, the Dursleys, do not share with him the fact that his parents were a wizard and witch, as they deny that the world of magic exists. At eleven years old, Harry learns the truth about his wizard status when he is informed that he is enrolled as a student at the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, Harry learns that he is famous in the wizard world for having survived the Avada Kedavra curse that killed his parents and every other person on whom Voldemort had used it before. Harry’s survival also led to the downfall of the evil wizard, for which people were eternally grateful. At Hogwarts, Harry finds a sense of family and belonging for the first time in his life. He befriends the awkward Ron Weasley and brainy Hermione Granger and the trio frequently becomes involved in dangerous and exciting adventures.
