Singer/Actress

Cher was born as Cheryl Sarkisian LaPiere in El Centro, California on May 20, 1946.  Because her parents separated when she was still very young, and her mother wasn’t able to support her, Cher spent some of her early years living in an orphanage and foster care.  She first became known in 1965 as a member of the duo Sonny & Cher, but she quickly established herself as a solo recording artist with twelve Top 10 singles and four number one singles.  In the 1970’s she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Moonstruck.  In addition to these accomplishments, he has also won an Emmy, a Grammy and three Golden Globe Awards.  Cher has two children, a daughter Charity and a son, Elijah.
